RELIGION or POLITICS ??????? Today is Religion.

Hi good friends, Today I thought I would change to religion, as I have been on about politics lately.

As I have revealed in past blogs previously, I am a Nichiren Buddhist. I also explained that I was initially a Presbyterian. Then a Unity member, Not Unitarian. Finally I encountered Nichiren Buddhism, attended a meeting and was impressed by the chanting. It seemed to have a rhythm that had a feel to it that said to me, "find out more". I did, and along with my present wife, it was the greatest thing to come into my life, to resolve my spiritual conflict.

My conflict?? Well, for the decades that I was in effect, a Christian, even going back to when my father, a Minister, was preaching, I could not reason how people could go to church every sunday, listen to the sermon, and then go out and live their lives as if the religious messages had no effect, but then go back to church the next sunday, holier than thou.

Then, as I got older,  this God,  which seemed to me and so it seemed to everyone,  to be this all power-ful great human  figure, who probably looked like Jesus, could sit way up and out there in the sky, direct ing everyone's life, according to his whims and fancies. But, if he was such a great person to trust with your life, how could babies die, or young people for that matter. Then there were people who lived high on the hog, and yet killed, or cheated or stole and any number of bad things, yet good people suffered poverty or sickness and prayed for help which never cam. A loving father???? You know, all that doesn't seem fair, if this God was so powerful and there for people who prayed and lived a decent life, yet still suffered.

Well, Nichiren Buddhism took care of that for me. We do not believe in One Supreme Deity. We do believe in a Great Spiritual Power, accent on spiritual, that flows through  every live thing in the world and works for you and you and you, according to your faith in that spirit. A faith that is there no matter what  life hands out to you. But especially when things go bad...and they will, how else could you learn? We are told "Enjoy what there is to enjoy, suffer what there is to suffer, and accept that joy and suffering is a fact of life, and just keep on chanting, Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, not matter what happens".

Nichiren Buddhism also adheres strictly to the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. The depth of this statement goes way deep, but this Law works no matter who or what, and Causes are made everyday, because each day abounds with choices, and each choice is a Cause, which immediately activates the Consequence, and that consequence will happen always no matter the time. It could be an hour, a day, a year, a decade, a century. But the consequence will happen, so no matter our differences, in time, things well all equal out, as a rhythm of life and the earth..

So when I see people giving this figure way out there somewhere, credit for this that and the other thing, it takes power away from themselves. That Great Spiritual Power is right there within each of us an is there always, and available any time needed, and all it takes is FAITH. UNLIMITED FAITH. What a wonderful feeling, knowing I am never a victim.   Cheerio.      CJ
